‘Taylor B. Made’ came to life during the elusive free moments between the demands of being a full time art teacher and the rest of life’s responsibilities. Taylor is drawn to throwing on the pottery wheel because it brings moments of silence and creativity to an otherwise hectic life. The pottery created during these precious minutes mimics this contrast between simplicity and chaos. Black underglazes are used to add splatters and brush strokes to unblemished, ivory clay. Playful words and phrases are used to add a touch of humor and relatability. At the end of the day, the work of ‘Taylor B. Made’ is simply the efforts of one teacher to keep making art because there is no other option.
